Try substituting starchy old foods with nutritious new alternatives (old foods on the left, new replacement food on the right):

  • Rice TRY pearl barley
  • Sugary breakfast cereals TRY porridge oats
  • Milk chocolate TRY dark chocolate (70% cocoa)
  • Floury potatoes TRY small sweet potato or new potatoes
  • Mashed potato TRY mashed sweet potato, cauliflower, celeriac
  • White bread TRY rye bread or wholegrain
  • White flour in baking TRY ground nuts, soya flour, chickpea flour
  • Sugary puddings TRY fruit or fructose
