Try substituting starchy old foods with nutritious new alternatives (old foods on the left, new replacement food on the right):
- Rice TRY pearl barley
- Sugary breakfast cereals TRY porridge oats
- Milk chocolate TRY dark chocolate (70% cocoa)
- Floury potatoes TRY small sweet potato or new potatoes
- Mashed potato TRY mashed sweet potato, cauliflower, celeriac
- White bread TRY rye bread or wholegrain
- White flour in baking TRY ground nuts, soya flour, chickpea flour
- Sugary puddings TRY fruit or fructose
